Lancaster JetHawks News Release
LANCASTER, Calif. - The JetHawks rallied back from a big early deficit, but the Bakersfield Blaze held on for a 10-7 victory on Saturday night at The Hangar, their third straight win in the series.
Two big innings dramatically altered the momentum in the game in each direction. Down 3-2, the Blaze put up six runs in the sixth against JetHawks reliever Andrew Thome (1-1), who failed to make it out of the frame. Gianfranco Wawoe delivered a two-run single and Drew Jackson followed with a two-run homer.
The JetHawks scored four times in the seventh to creep back within a run. Bobby Boyd hit a two-run triple. The other RBIs in the frame came from Ramon Laureano and Garrett Stubbs.
Bakersfield tacked on a couple big insurance runs late, with single tallies in the eighth and ninth innings.
Down 2-0 early, Lancaster rallied to take their lone lead of the game with a three-run third inning. Bryan Muniz had an RBI double, while Trent Woodward brought a run home with a fielder 's choice grounder and Johnny Sewald laid down a perfect bunt up the third base line with two out and the bases loaded.
Tyler Pike (3-5) pitched into the seventh inning for Bakersfield to earn the win. He was able to maneuver around six walks.
The left-hander allowed three hits and four earned runs. Lancaster starter Rogelio Armenteros took a no-decision. He struck out seven and allowed just two runs in five innings.
The JetHawks (34-34) and Blaze (36-33) conclude their four-game series on Sunday afternoon at The Hangar. Right-hander Dean Deetz (3-2) will start for Lancaster against left-hander Eddie Campbell (6-5). First pitch is 2:05 p.m.
