
Lakewood Tops Delmarva Again, Wins 4th Straight

SALISBURY, MD - The Lakewood BlueClaws just plain have the Delmarva Shorebirds number this season. On Tuesday, the BlueClaws won their 4th straight game with a 5-1 victory. Starter Jesse Biddle and two relievers combined to allow just 2 hits and 1 run in the game. With the win, Lakewood is now 17-7 against Delmarva in 2011, 13-5 in the Second Half.
Jesse Biddle was dominant for Lakewood tossing 5 shutout innings of 1 hit baseball. He earned the victory, his 7th of the year. The only hit Biddle allowed was a double to Riley Hornback, the very first batter he faced for Delmarva. Hector Neris didn't allow a hit over 3 shutout innings, and the Mike McGuire allowed 1 run on 2 walks and a hit in the 9th.
Carlos Alonso paced the BlueClaws offensively with a 2-4 performance including a Double and a 2-run HR, his 2nd with Lakewood. Anthony Hewitt was also 2-4 with 2 Singles and an RBI. The BlueClaws now have a chance to sweep the series with a win on Thursday.
In the series finale on Thursday, two lefties will square off on the mound. Austin Wright (1-1, 1.64 ERA) will start for Lakewood, and Jarret Martin (5-10, 4.99 ERA) will get the start for Delmarva. First Pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm on Thursday.
