Lakeland Magic to Host Open Tryouts

LAKELAND, FL - The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, will be hosting a local player tryout in Winter Haven, Florida, on September 18, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the AdventHealth Fieldhouse, the official practice facility of the Lakeland Magic (210 Cypress Gardens Blvd, Winter Haven, FL 33880) and in Orlando, Florida, on September 25, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the RDV Sportsplex Athletic Club (8701 Maitland Summit Blvd, Orlando, FL 32810). Local player tryouts provide athletes the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of Lakeland Magic coaches and basketball staff.

Former local player tryout success stories include Aleem Ford, who signed with the Lakeland Magic last season after the local player tryouts and averaged over 12 points and four rebounds per game and later earned an NBA call-up from the Orlando Magic. Kevin Foster, a Polk County native and local tryout participant, made the team and played for the Lakeland Magic in the 2017-18 season. The following year, Jerimiah Hill earned his spot on the roster through an open tryout and averaged seven points and 2.5 assists per game in the 2018-19 season.

Tryout participants can pre-register at LakelandMagic.com/local-player-tryouts for a $250 non-refundable tryout fee at least seven days in advance. The walkup registration fee on the day of the tryout for those not pre-registered is $300. The open tryout will be limited in space to participants who complete the required registration forms and payments on a first come, first serve basis.
