BURLINGTON, VT --- The New York-Penn League game between the Vermont Lake Monsters and Staten Island Yankees on Monday night at historic Centennial Field was suspended by rain and lightning in the top of the fourth inning with the Lake Monsters leading 1-0. The game will resume at 7:05 pm on Tuesday at the point suspended and be followed by a seven-inning game.

With a runner on first and two outs in the top of the fourth, the game was halted because of lightning right after Lake Monsters starter Lou Trivino's 1-1 pitch was fouled off by Eric Jagielo. A few minutes later a steady thunderstorm went through Centennial Field and the game was officially suspended.

Vermont took a 1-0 lead in the third on a Michael Soto leadoff double and two-out RBI single from Billy McKinney. Trivino had three strikeouts and retired 10 of the 11 batter he faced, including the first nine, in his final appearance of the season for the Lake Monsters.

The suspended game will resume at the point it was stopped on Tuesday starting at 7:05 pm and remain a nine-inning contest. After about a 30-minute break, the two teams will then play the regularly-scheduled game which will now be seven innings.

Fans with tickets for Monday's game suspended game can exchange that ticket for Tuesday's game or for the Lake Monsters season finale at Centennial on Wednesday. Tickets can be exchanged at the Lake Monsters ticket off at the ballpark anytime Tuesday or Wednesday beginning at 9:00 am.
