Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth's 'I'm Playing For' jersey auction for 'Lacrosse Out Cancer' Night launched today at 12:00pm MT online on eBay. The daily auction, which begins with the jersey of assistant captain Dan Coates, will feature a different player's jersey, a different charity, and a different type of cancer that each player has chosen to play for.

"My mom's mother just finished battling lung cancer," said Coates. "That was where it hit home. Everyone [in our family] was affected by it."

Coates' grandmother is doing well after winning her battle with the disease.

Net proceeds from today's jersey auction will benefit the American Lung Association in Colorado.

A pearl-colored ribbon embellished with the Mammoth's 'Lacrosse Out Cancer' logo will don the front of the jersey. The winning bidder will choose the name that appears on Coates' nameplate on the back. Immediately following the 'Lacrosse Out Cancer' Night game (on Mar. 8), the auction winner will receive the jersey from Coates in an on-field presentation.
