LA Galaxy's 20 for Twenty Program to Participate in Read Across America

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Feb. 27, 2015) - The LA Galaxy's 20 for Twenty program will continue by supporting in the 2015 National Education Association's Read Across America Day with Los Angeles area schools from March 2-6 for its second service event. 20 for Twenty is a year-long initiative that will see the implementation of 20 unique community service acts to celebrate the Galaxy's 20 th season in Major League Soccer.

LA Galaxy defender Dan Gargan, alum Cobi Jones, mascot Cozmo and the LA Galaxy Star Squad will all participate in Read Across America Day in various schools throughout the Los Angeles area during the week. Members will enter classrooms to read Oh, The Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss and celebrate and encourage reading among students.

Read Across America Day is an annual celebration from the National Education Association that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading in honor of children's author Dr. Seuss.

The Galaxy kicked off 20 for Twenty Wednesday by participating in LA Galaxy Build Day with Habitat Humanity of Greater Los Angeles as forward Gyasi Zardes and midfielder Rafael Garcia, along with LA Galaxy President Chris Klein, alumni and front office staff members, helped build houses in Lynwood, California.

LAUSD school sites will use Read Across America celebrations to launch their involvement with the LA Galaxy Kick Start Reading Challenge, a program that encourages and rewards students for completing 1,200 minutes reading over a two-month period.
