SANDY, Utah - Following a 3-2 come-from-behind win on the road against Real Salt Lake in league play on May 31, the LA Galaxy return to action by traveling to face RSL in the Quarterfinal Round of the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at America First Field tonight, Wednesday, June 7 (6:30 p.m. PT; Bleacher Report App, B/R Football YouTube, LA Galaxy Radio, LA Galaxy Spanish Radio).
The U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal match between the LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake marks the 57th all-time meeting across all competitions between the two teams, with LA leading the all-time series 24-19-13. Against RSL, the Galaxy hold a 20-17-11 record in league play, a 4-1-2 record in the MLS Cup Playoffs and a 0-1-0 record in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. In the only U.S. Open Cup meeting between LA and RSL, the Galaxy fell 1-0 on the road in the Quarterfinal Round on July 14, 2015. In the last meeting between the two teams on May 31, Tyler Boyd, Gastón Brugman and Memo Rodríguez each scored in the Galaxy's road win over Real Salt Lake.
The Quarterfinal matchup between the Galaxy and Real Salt Lake marks LA's 57th all-time U.S. Open Cup contest dating back to 1999, with the club holding a record of 37-18-1 in the competition. In 27 all-time road matches played in the U.S. Open Cup, the Galaxy hold a 12-14-1 record. LA will be looking to advance to the Semifinal Round of the U.S. Open Cup for the eighth time in the club's history, with the Galaxy last advancing to the Semifinals of the tournament in 2016.
