LA Galaxy News Release
LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy today announced that the club has acquired Preston Judd from USL Championship affiliate LA Galaxy II and signed the forward to a one-year contract through the end of the 2022 MLS regular season with two club option years.
"Preston is a hard-working and powerful forward who has proven his qualities with LA Galaxy II," said LA Galaxy Head Coach Greg Vanney. "We look forward to continuing his professional development within our organization."
Judd, 22, signed with LA Galaxy II on April 7, 2021. In his first professional season with Los Dos during the 2021 USL Championship regular season, Judd tallied 17 goals and three assists in 32 games played (27 starts). Judd's 17 goals scored ranked sixth in the USL Championship last season. Notably, Judd notched four multi-goal games for GII during the 2021 campaign. In four appearances (4 starts) for Los Dos during the 2022 USL Championship regular season, Judd has tallied one goal.
"We are pleased to announce the signing of Preston to the first-team roster," said LA Galaxy Technical Director Jovan Kirovski. "He scored 17 goals last year and continues to score at the USL level. He has earned an opportunity to progress and will add depth to our roster."
Born in Las Vegas, Nev., Judd signed his first professional contract with Sporting Kansas City II in January 2021. He was selected 35th overall by the LA Galaxy in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. Judd played one season at the University of Denver, where he led the team with seven goals and one assist in 19 appearances, while earning 2019 Summit League All-Newcomer Team and 2019 Summit League Tournament MVP honors. Prior to his time at Denver, he spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career with California Baptist University, recording 22 goals and four assists in 39 games.
