LA Galaxy Defender Chris Albright Undergoes Surgery to Repair Torn Hamstring

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, May 25, 2007) - Los Angeles Galaxy defender Chris Albright has undergone surgery to repair a tear in his right hamstring muscle, the club announced today. Albright, who was injured early in the Galaxy's 1-1 draw with Chivas USA on May 20, underwent the procedure at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles on Thursday and is expected to miss the next 4-6 months.

Currently in his ninth season in MLS and sixth with the Galaxy, Albright has appeared in five games for the club in 2007, playing a total of 375 minutes and collecting one yellow card. Albright, 28, has played in a total of 172 MLS regular season matches, recording 11 goals and 20 assists. A member of the U.S. World Cup squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup(tm), Albright has made 22 career appearances with the U.S. National Team since making his debut in 1999.

In addition, Los Angeles will be without the services of forward Gavin Glinton, who underwent surgery Wednesday in Germany to repair a sports hernia. Glinton joined the Galaxy for the second time in September 2006 and has played in 42 career games, collecting two goals and five assists.

Albright and Glinton join Alan Gordon (left foot stress fracture), Quavas Kirk (plantar fasciitis) and Troy Roberts (right hip surgery) on the Galaxy's injury list.
