
LA Galaxy Academy U-16's Claim South West Division

CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, June 10, 2015) - The LA Galaxy Academy Under-16 claimed the Southwest Division Championship in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy after securing a 2-2 draw against Real So Cal U-16's last Saturday morning at Oak Park High School in what was the LA Galaxy U-16's last game in the USSDA regular season.
The Galaxy U-16 squad came back from 2-0 deficit to secure the Galaxy U-16's Southwest Division title. The Galaxy U-16's had already qualified for the 2014-2015 Academy Playoffs ahead of last Saturday's match after receiving an automatic bid to the 2014-15 Postseason. The Galaxy U-16's finished the season with the second highest goal scoring record in the country with 85 goals scored in 39 games. The Galaxy U-16's Academy Playoffs schedule will be announced today at 2 p.m. PT.
Last season, the LA Galaxy Academy Under-16 team earned a 2-0 victory over the defending-champion Real Salt Lake AZ Under-16 squad in the U.S. Soccer 2013-2014 Development Academy Championship after they finished undefeated and on top of Group D of the 2013-14 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs.
LA GALAXY ACADEMY U-18'S QUALIFY FOR THE ACADEMY PLAYOFFS: The LA Galaxy Academy Under-18's qualified for the 2014-2015 Academy Playoffs as the team received an automatic bid to the 2014-15 Postseason with a total of 72 points in 39 games played (1.85 points per games played). The team recorded a goal differential of 33 (Goals in Favor 76, Goals Against 43) in the 2014-15 season. The Galaxy U-18's Academy Playoffs schedule will be announced later today.
LA GALAXY ACADEMY U-14'S TO TAKE PART IN 2014-15 U-13/14'S NATIONAL SHOWCASE: The Galaxy Academy U-14's will play three games next weekend at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana as part of the 2014-15 U-13/14's USSDA National Showcase. The first game of the showcase will be a match against New York Red Bulls U-14's on Friday, June 19 at 10 a.m. at Grand Park Sports Campus' Field 20. The Galaxy U-14's complete schedule is detailed below.
MUCHNICK AND ESTRADA PARTICIPATE IN INAUGURAL FUTURES CAMP: LA Galaxy Academy forward Jacob Muchnick and midfielder Jonathon Estrada were called into the Boys' National Team Futures training camp at StubHub Center in Carson. The camp, which consisted of players who were born in 2000 and 2001, ran from May 23-26 at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson.
