SALTILLO, Mexico - Hidalgo La Fiera ended the road portion of the schedule with a victory over Saltillo Rancho Seco by a final score of 6-3on Thursday night at the Deportivo Rancho Seco Saltillo.
The win puts La Fiera (13-2) in pole position to clinch first place in the Central Division of the PASL with a win on Sunday over Tulsa or a Dallas loss.
Hidalgo scored four goals in the first half which was highlighted by an Alejandro Morales brace and a Erick Flores goal that gave them a 4-0 lead at the half.
Saltillo (6-9) scored a pair of goals to trim the distance at 4-2 when Sergio Almeida and Raul Cerda scored for the home.
La Fiera responded with a goal from Damian Garcia which bumped the lead to 5-2 in the third quarter. Rancho Seco added a goal from Alan Leos that made it 5-3 as it would be as close as they would get.
In the fourth quarter, Hidalgo wrapped up the game on a goal by Erick Flores, which gave him a brace and ended the scoring at 6-3.
Goal Keeper and Brownsville native Juan Gamboa earned his 13th win of the season only allowing three goals for La Fiera.
The final home game for Hidalgo La Fiera is on Sunday, February 16th when they host the Tulsa Revolution at State Farm Arena with the kickoff set for 5:05 pm.
