L.A. Avengers to conduct "Heroes of LA" raffles to benefit PADRES Contra El Cancer

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Avengers will conduct a "Heroes of L.A." raffle throughout the 2007 Arena Football League season to benefit PADRES Contra El CĂ¡ncer. The "Heroes of L.A." grand prize is a series of four signed and authenticated 8x10 photos of the greatest athletes to ever play in Los Angeles matted together in a single frame.
"This will mark the second year that the Avengers are the official community partner for PADRES," said Elvia Barboa, CEO of PADRES. "We are very excited about the programs the Avengers are doing to help PADRES this year, from the season long raffle to the poker and golf tournaments."
The four athletes featured in the "Heroes of L.A." display are: Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen, who led the Los Angeles Raiders to a Super Bowl victory in 1984; hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, who propelled the Los Angeles Kings to their first and only Stanley Cup Finals appearance; NBA superstar Earvin "Magic" Johnson, who guided the Los Angeles Lakers to five NBA Championships; and Kirk Gibson, who sparked the Los Angeles Dodgers to the 1988 World Series championship with a dramatic home run in Game 1.
"PADRES Contra El CĂ¡ncer has been doing amazing work to help improve the quality of life for children with cancer and their families," Avenger owner and CEO Casey Wasserman said. "The Avengers are proud to help raise funds for PADRES Contra El CĂ¡ncer."
Five-dollar raffle tickets will be available for purchase at all Avengers home games at STAPLES Center, the Avenger Charity Poker Tournament on March 18, and the Avenger Charity Golf Tournament on May 14. The winning ticket will be drawn at halftime of the Avengers' final regular-season home game on June 23. If the winner is not in attendance, he or she will be notified via mail or phone. Any cost to ship the item will be at the expense of the winner. Special ticket promotions will be held at each home game.
