Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

GRAND RAPIDS - The Grand Rapids Rampage, West Michigan's very own Arena Football League team, will kick off their historic 10th Anniversary Season Sunday (March 4) at 3:00 p.m. EST in Denver against the two-time Central Division champion Colorado Crush.

This season, the Rampage feature several explosive veterans along with many exciting new faces. Among the returnees is 2006 AFL All-Ironman Team selection Timon Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica), who looks to defend his title as the AFL's all-purpose yards leader after becoming the only player in league history to record 1,300 receiving yards and 1,300 return yards in the same season. Also returning is Chris Ryan (Lake Charles, La.), who has scored more rushing touchdowns (69) than any other AFL player since 2000.

Rampage newcomers include defensive lineman Chukie Nwokorie (West Lafayette, Ind.) and wide receiver Ronney Daniels (Lake Wales, Fla.), each of who possess past AFL experience. Nwokorie began his Arena Football career with the Las Vegas Gladiators last season after a five year (1999-2003) career in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers. Daniels spent the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Storm and recently displayed his breakout capability, totaling three touchdowns (two receiving, one interception return) in the Rampage's 2007 preseason scrimmage against the San Jose SaberCats.

Grand Rapids went 0-8 on the road last season and hasn't won in Denver since Feb. 7, 2003. In addition, the Rampage have won only once in the last six games against the Crush. Grand Rapids will look to turn the tide against two-time defending AFL Offensive Player of the Year Damian Harrell and Colorado in its first of 16 action-packed Arena Football games.

NOTES: The AFL recently renewed its agreement with Fox Sports Network, and West Michigan football fans will have three chances to catch their Rampage on FSN Detroit this season. Grand Rapids will appear on the regional network on April 28 (at Los Angeles Avengers, 10:30 p.m. EDT), June 9 (at Chicago Rush, 8:00 p.m. EDT) and June 16 (vs. Tampa Bay Storm, 7:00 p.m. EDT). All games will be aired live, barring conflict with the NBA or NHL playoffs. An additional regional television package will be announced in the near future.
