Kyle Fisher Leaves Royals For Beef

OMAHA, NE - Kyle Fisher has resigned as Vice President/Baseball Operations for the Omaha Royals to accept the position of Senior Vice President/General Manager of the Omaha Beef. After spending the past 22 years working in professional sports, the last nine of which were with the Royals, Fisher today takes over the reigns of Omaha's professional indoor football team.
"We reluctantly accept Kyle's resignation," said Royals President Alan Stein. "While we hate to lose Kyle's leadership and experience, we are at our core a company of dreamers. We always support our folks reaching for their dreams."
That sentiment was echoed by Royals Vice President/General Manager Martie Cordaro. "One of our company's missions is to help each of our team members attain their career goals and dreams," Cordaro said. "In this case, Kyle is achieving this by again becoming the general manager of a professional sports team. He will be missed, but we are excited about his new career opportunity."
As the Royals VP of Baseball Operations, Fisher oversaw a variety of areas, including business operations, affiliate relations and travel planning. He was also the club's liaison with the Pacific Coast League and its umpires, as well as being an integral part of the team's community relations efforts.
Prior to joining the Royals in 2001, Fisher served as the general manager of the Helena Brewers in the rookie Pioneer League. He had previously worked in professional baseball for the Burlington Bees, Aberdeen Pheasants, Lancaster JetHawks and the Augusta GreenJackets. He began his career in professional sports in 1986 as a part-time sales representative with the O-Royals.
"It is sad to leave as the Omaha Royals will always have a place in my heart," said Fisher. "They were my first experience as a rookie salesperson in 1986 with Gus Cherry and Bill Gorman, my return to Nebraska with Matt Minker and Doug Stewart and my continued development with Alan Stein and Martie Cordaro."
The Aurora, Nebraska native earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and physical education from Nebraska Wesleyan University. He resides in Springfield, Nebraska with his wife, Phyllis and son Travis.
The Royals open their 2010 season at Rosenblatt Stadium on Thursday, April 8th at 7:05 p.m. facing the Memphis Redbirds. 2010 season tickets, mini-plans and other ticket packages are currently on sale, with single-game tickets going on sale Saturday, March 13.
