The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled defenseman JOEL KWIATKOWSKI (KWEE-at-KOW-skee) from the Chicago Wolves.
KWIATKOWSKI leads American Hockey League defensemen with 12 goals and ranks third among league blueliners with 32 points in 40 games this season. The 30-year-old alternate captain, who was named to the Canadian Team for the AHL All-Star Classic, paces the Wolves with nine power-play goals and a +19 plus/minus rating, which is first among AHL defensemen and shares third overall in the league. He has registered 15 points (6G, 9A) in his last 14 matchups and has notched at least one point in 25 of his 40 tilts.
Overall, the Kindersley, Saskatchewan, native has tallied 56 goals and 165 points in 337 career AHL outings and 40 points (16G, 24A) in 264 NHL matchups, which includes 10 points (5G, 5A) in 42 games with the Florida Panthers and Pittsburgh Penguins last season.
