The Bismarck Bobcats are pleased to announce that rookie goaltender and team M.V.P Jake Kremer has signed with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers for the 2008-09 season. Kremer led the âCats goaltending staff with a 17-24-5 record and ended the year with a 91% save percentage and a 3.30 goals against average.
The Eden Prairie, MN native lead the league in saves with 1,475. Along with facing the most rubber in the regular season, Jake saw plenty of ice time finishing second in the NAHL in minutes played with 2691:39, right behind Fairbanks goaltender Cody Reichard who committed to Miami of Ohio. Jake only got better with time and proved that during his final game in Bobcat Country, his best performance of the season; a 1-0 win on 49 saves.
"Jake is a perfect example of a player who's work ethic carried him to the next level," said Bobcats Head Coach Byron Pool. "Kremer works as hard as any player in any league," Pool mentioned. "I'm real excited for Jake; I think he will make it real hard for the Gophers not to play him."
Jake is more than thrilled to play for his favorite team of all time, "I grew up loving the Gophers and I watched them every time they were on, this is a dream come true," Kremer said. "The University is great, it's a tough school to get into and it's an added bonus that it's so close to home," Jake added.
Kremer's hard work paid off through out the season and you could see his improvement day by day. "I learned an important lesson this season; someone is always watching. I practiced hard everyday and Byron took note of that, without his help I wouldn't be where I'm at today," Kremer added.
