CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Corpus Christi IceRays defenseman Brian Kramer has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Robert Morris Colonials (Atlantic Hockey).

The 18-year-old defenseman earned a scholarship and is expected to begin his collegiate career in the 2020-21 season.

"Brian has been outstanding for us this season and this is a very well-deserved accomplishment," said IceRays head coach Ryan Cruthers. "RMU is a great fit for him both athletically and academically and I am excited to see him play at my alma mater."

Kramer, a 5-10, 179-pound blueliner, is in his first NAHL season, and has recorded four points (1-3-4) in 10 games. The Wexford, Pa., native is the fifth current IceRay to earn a Division I commitment. He is a product of the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite youth hockey program and was tendered by the IceRays last season.

Next up for the IceRays, who are in the midst of a season-long 13-game homestand, are visits from both Alaskan teams in the NAHL, starting with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs on Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20. Puck drop both nights is set for 7:05 PM. The following weekend will see the Kenai River Brown Bears come to town.
