Wheeling Nailers News Release

Wheeling W.V. – The Wheeling Nailers announce today that they have signed forward Mark Kosick for the 2004-05 season. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Kosick, 25, rejoins the Nailers for his third professional season. Last season, in his second pro season, Kosick appeared in 72 games for the Nailers scoring 19 goals and 42 assists for 61 points. And in five playoff games he recorded two goals and one assist for three points.

"Mark is a very talented player and we are extremely happy to get him back here for another year, he was a big reason for our success last season. He plays with an intensity and heart that no one else can match, he lays his body on the line every shift," said Nailers Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Pat Bingham.

Kosick was offered several contracts from teams in the European Leagues, one substantial offer from a team in the DEL out of Germany. But, he turned all the offers down to return to Wheeling and finish what the Nailers had started last season.

The 5'11 180 pound, from Victoria, B.C., played his first season in the ECHL last year with the Nailers. Before the Nailers he played one season with Berlin in the DEL league in Germany, appearing in 45 games scoring two goals and two assists. Kosick played for the University of Michigan for four seasons, playing in 165 games, scoring 58 goals and 88 assists for 146 points.

Kosick was the fourth leading scorer on the Nailers record breaking team in 2003-04. The Nailers broke several franchise records; they recorded the most wins in a season (51), most points in a season (106), and had more than 100 public appearances throughout last season.
