Sporting Kansas City News Release
Sporting Kansas City defender Kortne Ford underwent successful surgery today to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon, the club has announced.
The procedure was performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Kirk McCullough at the Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute. Ford, who suffered the injury in Wednesday's preseason match against Real Salt Lake in Phoenix, is expected to miss the entire 2023 season.
Ford joined Sporting in early 2022 and played 16 matches for the club in all competitions last year. A native of Olathe, Kansas, he made 11 starts in central defense and scored his first goal for Sporting in a win over Union Omaha in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals at Children's Mercy Park.
