Elmira Jackals News Release
Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that All-Stars Jarrett Konkle and Chris Chaput shined in their first ever mid-season Classic Wednesday night in Missouri. In other news, goaltender Nick Boucher has returned from his one-game call-up with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.
Konkle and Chaput represented the Jackals with style Wednesday night as they donned the Team Aquafina jerseys comprised of the Eastern teams in the UHL. Konkle was the top point-scorer in the game, recording 5 assists in his first All-Star game, while Chaput added two of his own as they helped lift Team Aquafina to a 9-7 win over Team Gatorade at the Family Arena. Roanoke's David Beauregard was named the game's MVP, scoring 4-goals in the game, but he owed a significant part of that to his Jackals' linemates. Konkle set up all 4 of Beauregard's goals, while Chaput assisted on two of them. Konkle's other assist was to another Viper All-Star, L.P. Martin, who scored from Konkle in the first period.
In other news, Jackals goaltender Nick Boucher returned this morning from his one-game call up with the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Boucher was called upon to serve as a back-up to starter Frederic Cloutier after injuries to Chris Madden and Cody Rudkowsky left Bridgeport with just one healthy net-minder. The Sound Tigers beat Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the AHL's top team this season, 4-3 in a shootout; Boucher did not see any ice time Wednesday night. Bridgeport returned home after the game and will host the Providence Bruins Friday night, while Boucher is back in Elmira for practice today, but will also be in Connecticut Friday as they play the Danbury Trashers.
The Jackals hit the road for two games in Danbury Friday and Saturday. Elmira finishes Week 15 at home Sunday afternoon at the First Arena with a 4:05 pm face off with former Jackal David Herring and the Motor City Mechanics.
