
Komets pre-season roster expands to 13

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced the addition of 5 names to the pre-season roster today as preparations for the 2004-05 season continue. Added to the roster were Jason Selleke (RW), Rob Guinn (D), Nate Elliot (D), Marcus Forsberg (LW) and Nick Niedert (G). Selleke, Guinn and Elliot have all agreed to terms for the upcoming season in Fort Wayne while Forsberg and Niedert will be entering camp on tryout agreements.
Selleke, 26, will be returning to the Komets after a stint with the CHL's Indianapolis Ice last season where the winger posted 10 goals and 32 points with 112 penalty minutes in 63 games. Selleke skated 45 games with the Komets during the 2002-03 season scoring 10 goals, 20 points and 114 penalty minutes. The Michigan native is a graduate of Ohio State University and will be starting his 5th pro season.
Guinn, 28, was selected by Edmonton in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft and completed 4 seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 1993-1996. The defenseman's first pro season was split between Texas (WPHL) and Elmira (UHL) in 2000-01. Guinn continued skating for the Jackals in 2001 and 2002 before joining the Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL for 2003-04 where he appeared in 57 games scoring 33 assists and 36 points while accumulating 67 penalty minutes.
Elliott, 25, has skated the last 2 seasons with Indianapolis (CHL). Last year the defenseman registered 6 assists and 8 points while posting 115 penalty minutes in 62 games. The New York native will be entering his 3rd season as a pro after playing 4 seasons with State University New York (NCAA).
Forsberg, 23, has played 3 pro seasons including stints in the UHL and CHL during 2002-03 when the Swedish winger appeared in 2 games with Elmira while also skating in the CHL 3 games with San Angelo and 43 games with El Paso.
Niedert, 22, is looking to begin his pro career after appearing in the Junior A, Continental Elite Hockey League last year with Traverse City. In 13 games the goaltender registered a 3.90 goals-against average and .928 save percentage.
With the addition of the 5 players, the Komet roster now includes 7 forwards, 4 defensemen and 2 goaltenders for a total of 13 players.
Komets vs. Kalamazoo Wings in preseason.....the Komets will meet the Kalamazoo Wings for a home-and-home preseason series starting in Fort Wayne at the coliseum Friday, Oct. 8 at 8pm. Saturday night, Oct. 9, the two teams faceoff at 7:30 at Wings stadium in Kalamazoo. The Komet's 2004-05 regular season schedule starts on the road Friday, Oct. 15, at Elmira against the Jackals. After beginning the season with 4 games on the road, the Komets will return to Fort Wayne to play their home opener Saturday, Oct. 23, against the Flint Generals at 7:30pm.
