Komets Add Blueliner Cody Sol to Roster

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Monday that defenseman Cody Sol has agreed to terms and has been added to the preseason roster.

Sol, 23, will be entering his third pro year after registering career highs of six goals, 10 assists, 16 points and 121 penalty minutes in 65 games with Ontario in the ECHL last season.

The 6-foot, five-inch, 242-pound defenseman made his juniors debut in 2007-08 appearing in 12 games with Saginaw in the OHL. Sol was selected by Atlanta in round 5 of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and made his pro debut appearing in one game with Chicago of the AHL during 2009-10. The Woodstock, Ontario native completed his five-year juniors career in 2011-12 leading Kitchener defensemen with 15 goals and 178 penalty minutes in 62 games. During 2012-13 Sol split the season skating 26 AHL games with St. John's and 25 with Colorado in the ECHL.

The Fort Wayne preseason roster reaches 14 players including nine forwards, four defensemen and one goaltender.

Forwards: Brett Beebe, Mike Embach, Angelo Esposito, Thomas Frazee, Alex Hudson, Christian Ouellet, Kaleigh Schrock, Shawn Szydlowski, Greg Wolfe.

Defensemen: Drew Daniels, William Lacasse, Matthew Maione, Cody Sol.

Goaltender: Pat Nagle.

Game change -- The Fort Wayne at Cincinnati game originally slated for Tuesday, Feb. 24 has been moved to Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7:35pm. Komets schedule

Training camp opens Sunday, Oct. 5 -- The Komets also announced Monday that the 2014-15 training camp will open on Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Memorial Coliseum. A complete training camp schedule will be released prior to the opening of camp.

Komets to host three exhibition games -- The Komets will skate three exhibition games prior to the season opener, all at home on Coliseum ice. The Evansville IceMen will visit for the first two home tune-ups Friday, Oct. 10 at 8pm and Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7:30pm. The Kalamazoo Wings will visit Monday, Oct. 13 for a 7:30pm preseason tilt. All Komet home exhibition games will be held at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

Home opener Oct. 18 -- The Komets will open the 2014-15 campaign with a home-and-home series against the new Indy Fuel. The season opener will be held at the newly renovated Fairgrounds Coliseum in Indianapolis Friday, Oct. 17. The 63rd Fort Wayne home opener is slated Saturday, Oct. 18 against the Fuel at 7:30pm.
