Spokane Shock News Release

The Spokane Shock announced today that K John Koker and DB/LB Nygel Rogers have been assigned to the 2007 roster by the arenafootball2 League Office.

Koker is the fourth member of the 2006 ArenaCup Champion Shock to return for the 2007 season. Last year, Koker converted 78% of his point after attempts, and 44% of his field goal attempts during the regular season. In the post season, Koker accounted for 23 points, placing him third on the team in scoring.

"Koker did a good job last year. He battled through some injuries and established himself as a dependable and accurate kicker," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "I'm excited that he is coming back to Spokane."

Rogers joins the Shock after spending time in training camp with the National Football League's Washington Redskins (2005) and the Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts (2006). He made a name for himself at Appalachian State where he was an All-Southern Conference player three times in his college football career, from 2001 to 2002 and again in 2004.

During his senior season, Rogers recorded 76 tackles, two interceptions (returned for 60 yards) and six pass break-ups. In his junior year, Rogers tallied 115 tackles, collected two interceptions (returned for 45 yards) and broke up six passes.

"I'm excited to come out to Spokane," Rogers, 6'1" 208, said. "It's a great situation to come in to; I'm just ready to get out there."

With today's assignments, the Shock's roster includes 11 players on it. The team will begin its defense of the 2006 Championship on March 31st as it hosts the Stockton Lightening. Season tickets are now available by calling (509) 242 7462.
