Knights Walk into 2nd Straight Win over Gwinnett

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights won their second straight game over the Gwinnett Braves as they squeaked out a 4-3 win at Knights Stadium. For the second straight game the Knights scored the winning run on a bases loaded walk.
Gwinnett starting pitcher Scott Diamond was the story of the night early on as pitched five perfect innings to start the game before Knights third baseman Brent Morel roped a double down the left field line to break up the perfecto. Morel later scored the first Knights run of the game on a Fernando Cortez RBI single.
With Gwinnett leading 2-1 in the 7th inning, the Knights evened things up on an RBI triple from Jordan Danks that reached the wall in right centerfield. Danks then scored the leading run on a wild pitch by Gwinnett's Cori Gearrin. The lead didn't last long as the Braves tied things up the next inning when Luis Bolivar tripled and later scored on a Freddie Freeman sacrifice fly.
Then a case of déjà vu occurred for the Knights. For the second straight night they loaded the bases with two outs and the winning run at third base. Stefan Gartrell worked a walk to score Alejandro De Aza and put the Knights ahead 4-3. Charlotte closer Ryan Braun came on in the 9th inning to earn his 18th save of the season.
The Knights and Braves continue their series tomorrow at 7:15 PM. The Braves will start LHP Jose Orlegano (3-8, 5.96 ERA) and the Knights will counter with RHP Freddy Dolsi (2-6, 5.02 ERA).
