Knights to Welcome Record-Breaking Fan to BB&T Ballpark Tonight

(Uptown Charlotte, NC) - BB&T Ballpark officially opened its gates for the first time on Friday, April 11 to overwhelming support from the greater Charlotte community. On Saturday, July 5, the Knights are set to break their all-time attendance mark for a single season in just 45 games. When the record is reached, the Knights will reward one lucky fan with a special prize pack at tonight's game.

Gates open at 6:00 p.m. tonight as the Knights are set to shatter their all-time mark of 429,132 fans set back in 1993. When the club welcomes the 429,133rd fan through the gates, the Knights will celebrate by taking that fan down to the field to throw out a ceremonial first pitch. The record-breaking fan will also be showered with gifts, including a team signed baseball, a Knights jersey, a hat, and four tickets to the Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game on Tuesday, September 16.

"As we continue to welcome our dedicated fans to BB&T Ballpark, we want to pause for a moment and celebrate a historic attendance mark for us," said Knights Chief Operating Officer Dan Rajkowski. "We are very pleased with the support from our community."

Through 44 games this season (entering tonight's game), the Knights lead all of Minor League Baseball in attendance with a total of 422,229. BB&T Ballpark, which has achieved 21 sell-out crowds already this season, is averaging 9,596 through the gates - also the highest in Minor League Baseball. The Knights are expected to welcome their 22nd sell-out crowd of the season tonight and BB&T Ballpark will need to welcome just 6,904 fans this evening to surpass the club's all-time attendance mark.

Saturday at BB&T Ballpark will be exciting for all fans of all ages as the Knights will welcome four Olympic swimmers for a special meet and greet. Roy Burch (two-time Olympian from Bermuda), Micah Lawrence (USA female 200-meter breaststroke), Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace (Bahamian Olympian National champ in the 2008 Summer Olympics), and Cammile Adams (USA 200-meter Butterfly in the 2012 Summer Olympics) will be on hand to sign autographs for fans before the game. All four swimmers are members of SwimMAC Carolina, the epicenter of progressive competitive swimming and one of the world's elite swimming clubs.

Tonight's game features another exciting performance from the Hickory Tavern KnightinGals -- the Charlotte Knights official dance team. The World Famous ZOOperstars! will make their second appearance at BB&T Ballpark this season as well. The ZOOperstars! are a truly unique act showcasing beloved sports figures in animal form. They will perform throughout the night for fans. First pitch of Saturday's finale against the Norfolk Tides (Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) is set for 7:05 p.m.
