Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights News Release
The Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights are proud to announce that the organization has elected to use their first Tender of the season, extending an offer to forward Aaron Hamel.
Residing out of Okemos, MI, Hamel comes to the Knights from Meijer AAA 18U, where he registered six points in eight games. The '01 left-handed shooter spent a weekend with the Knights during their three game stretch against the Northeast Generals in October, skating in his NAHL debut on October 12th.
"Back a couple of weeks ago when I came up against Northeast, I met a lot of the boys and the coaches and they were great to me," said Hamel. "Even just being called up for a week, I think the coaches taught me some new things that I brought back to Meijer."
Hamel spent the 17-18 season at both the 18U and 16U levels for Meijer, scoring 25 goals and 53 points. While the forward stands in at 5'9?, Hamel believes there's a lot he can bring to Wilkes-Barre, including a physical brand of hockey.
"I feel like I can make plays to get scoring opportunities and score a few goals myself," said Hamel. "I also have a gritty tenacious side to my game. Even though I'm a smaller player, I am still physical."
Hamel will wear #24 for the Knights.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton resumes play Friday afternoon against the New Jersey Titans at Revolution Ice Centre before heading to New Jersey in the home-and-home rematch Saturday night.
