(Fort Mill, SC) -- The Buffalo Bisons came out swinging in the last game of the series and defeated the Charlotte Knights 9-3 Monday night at Knights Stadium. The Knights and Bisons split the four-game series and Charlotte was 4-4 on the homestand.

Buffalo put up three first-inning runs. Fred Lewis tripled and scored on the errant relay throw, Valentino Pascucci homered to left field, and Oswaldo Navarro drove in a run with a base hit to make it 3-0.

Charlotte (19-19) answered right back in the home half of the inning. Tyler Kuhn led off the game with a double to straightaway center and Dan Johnson drove him home with a double to right. The Knights got the bases loaded in the inning but could not push any more runs across.

Buffalo tacked on three more in the second inning on a walk and three more hits to make it 6-1. Zaleski (1-1, 7.47) went four innings and surrendered seven earned runs. He was saddled with his first loss of the season.

True to form on the homestand, the Knights would not go quietly. Kuhn doubled again and Johnson drove him home again, this time on a home run to right - his eighth of the season. Charlotte then put runners on second and third in the inning but did not score again. Kuhn was 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored and Dan Johnson was 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBIs.

The Knights will now leave the comforts of home for an eight-game road trip. They have four games at the Norfolk Tides, beginning with a 7:15 p.m. game Tuesday, followed by four at Durham.

Charlotte will return home to Knights Stadium on May 24th for an eight-day homestand starting with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. On the 24th, the Knights and IronPigs will finish a game from May 4th at Lehigh Valley that was suspended due to inclement weather. Since the Knights do not travel to Lehigh Valley again this season, the two teams will resume and complete the game at Knights Stadium. The game will be picked up at 6:15 PM on Thursday. That game will be played to nine innings, while the originally scheduled game (which will follow) will be a seven-inning game.
