Knights Return to Oncenter for 2-Game Clash with Blast

January 17, 2013 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Syracuse Silver Knights News Release

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights return home this weekend for a 2-game set with the 12-4 Baltimore Blast following their remarkable 15-14 come-from-behind win against Rochester last weekend that was finished off with a 3-point blast from the foot of Marcos Chantel. The action kicks off Friday night, January 18, at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena at 7:30 p.m. The two sides will reconvene for a second tilt Sunday afternoon, January 20, at 1:30 p.m.

Following his role in the Knights' crucial win a week ago, Chantel was named to the MISL Team of the Week for his late fourth quarter heroics. After surrendering four straight third quarter goals, Syracuse entered the fourth facing a 14-10 deficit. Rookie Nate Bourdeau, who previously set up Neto with a second quarter goal, continued his fabulous run of form with a crucial fourth quarter strike with just four minutes and change left on the clock. Bourdeau's brilliance sent shock waves through the visitor's bench, and Marcos completed the storybook finish with his long-range glory-strike in the game's dying embers.

Brazilian striker Neto has dazzled the Syracuse faithful with his goal scoring ability all season long, and he continued his ruthless finishing with a pair of goals against the Lancers while adding an assist. Slavisa Ubiparipovic displayed his wonderful distributing abilities that supplement his goal scoring prowess last Saturday, as he set up the opening goal of the game to Neto and Bourdeau's crucial fourth quarter tally.

Tune in to Time Warner Cable Sports to see a replay of last weekends game against the Rochester Lancers. The game will be shown during the following times:

Thursday, January 17 @ 1:00 pm on Channel 19, 813

Friday, January 18 @10:30 am on Channel 19, 813

Friday, January 18 @ 4:30 pm on Channel 1026

Saturday, January 19 @ 5:00 pm on Channel 1026

After flying out of the gates this season by winning their first nine games, Baltimore has shown a little vulnerability as of late and now sits in the MISL's second spot with a 12-4 record. The Blast has squandered their last two road games at Chicago and Baltimore, and the Knights will surely be looking to add to Baltimore's woes. Syracuse will be keen on shutting down the Blast's two leading scorers, Machel Millwood (16G, 12A) and Tony Donatelli (10G, 12A).

The Silver Knights will return home again next Friday, February 1, at 7:30 p.m. as they host the Blast for the third consecutive time. This will benefit the CNY Veterans Outreach Center as the Knights will be wearing and auctioning specialty Camouflage Jerseys.
