Syracuse Silver Knights News Release

SYRACUSE, N.Y.-The Syracuse Silver Knights will wrap up their regular season with back-to-back road games in Chicago and Milwaukee on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Despite losing their final regular season home game to the MIlwaukee Wave on Wednesday, the Silver Knights can still reach the playoffs if they beat the Soul and the Wave.

Both Syracuse and Chicago lost at home on Wednesday night - the Knights fell 12-8 to the Wave, and the Soul lost an 8-6 heartbreaker in overtime to the Missouri Comets, who clinched the third seed in the upcoming MISL playoffs.

Syracuse will look for an offensive boost from Brazilian star Neto, who added to his team lead with his 33rd goal of the season Wednesday night. The Soul will counter with red-hot goaltender Jeff Richey, who turned aside 34 Comets shots on Wednesday.

The Soul, who currently occupy fourth place and final playoff spot, have won the previous three meetings against the Silver Knights this season, including an 11-0 shutout at Sears Centre on January 4. If Chicago beats Syracuse, the Soul will clinch the final MISL playoff berth.

If the Knights beat the Soul but lose at Milwaukee on Saturday night, the Rochester Lancers will sneak into the playoffs as the fourth seed, as they own the head-to-head tiebreaker over Chicago. Syracuse has not beaten Milwaukee in three tries this season, although all three games were decided by four goals or fewer.

Syracuse must beat both the Soul and Wave to force a three-way tie for fourth place with Chicago and Rochester, all of whom would finish the regular season with 10 wins. The first tiebreaker among those teams would be point differential. Currently, Chicago is a minus-26, the Knights are a minus-34, and Rochester is a minus-59.

Kickoff at Sears Centre in Chicago is schedules for 8:30 p.m. ET Friday night, and kickoff in Milwaukee will be at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday. Both games will be streamed live on mislnation.com.
