Chris Neiszner scored his first goal of the season, and it stood up as the difference as the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights beat the San Antonio Rampage 2-1 at the AT&T Center. The Knights have now won a franchise record eight straight road games.

The Knights hit two posts early in the first period before finally finding the twine. David Van der Gulik fired a sharp angle shot through the crease. Kris Chucko knocked the puck back in front to Brandon Prust who fired home his 15th goal of the year.

They pushed their lead to 2-0 late in the second period. Off a face-off in the San Antonio zone, Tim Hambly took a shot from the left point. Neiszner tipped it under goaltender Josh Tordjman for his first goal of the season.

The Rampage drew to within one at 5:12 of the third period when Alex Leavitt banked in a shot off the post for his ninth goal of the year.

That was as close as the Rampage would get. Curtis McElhinney and company shut the door during a game-ending penalty kill for the 2-1 win.

The Knights are now 42-22-4-1. They remain just one point behind the Chicago Wolves for first place in the West Division. Chicago won at home against Peoria on Sunday. The Knights did extend their lead to five points over idle Milwaukee.

Three Stars: 1. Curtis McElhinney (OMA) - 23 saves; 2. Alex Leavitt (SAN) - 1 goal; 3. David Van der Gulik (OMA) - 1 assist
