FORT MILL, S.C. --The Charlotte Knights defeated the Ottawa Lynx 6-3 Wednesday night at Knights Stadium as reliever Dave Sanders earned his first win of the season. Left fielder Roosevelt Brown hit a perfect 3-3 with two doubles and a single to lead the Knights' offense.

The Lynx struck first blood as center fielder Tim Raines Jr. hit a solo home run off Knights' starter Felix Diaz to go ahead 1-0, but the Knights took the lead in the third and did not look back.

Short stop Pedro Lopez hit his second home run of the year, a two-run shot deep in left field to make it 2-1. Also scoring was third baseman Ricky Gutirrez to become the other Knight with a perfect evening batting 2-2 with two singles.

Sanders entered the game in the top of the sixth and gave up a run to his first batter after committing a three-base throwing error to first. Ottawa tied the score at 2 when the batter, first baseman Walter Young, scored on Knights' first baseman Jorge Toca's return throwing error to third in the same play.

Nonetheless, a three-run sixth sealed the deal for Charlotte -and the win for Sanders.

Toca hit a leadoff double and scored on a throwing error from Lynx short stop Enrique Wilson to reclaim the lead 3-2. Designated hitter Joe Borchard, who hit 2-4 with two doubles, one run scored and one RBI, stepped to the plate and hit his second double of the night to score catcher Jamie Burke, who reached on a fielder's choice.

Guiterrez moved Borchard around to third with a sacrifice bunt, and second baseman Trace Coquillette sent him home with a sacrifice bunt of his own to put the Knights solidly ahead 5-2.

Each club then added a run in the seventh. For Ottawa catcher Eli Whiteside hit a leadoff double and scored on a bunt single from Raines.

Lopez reached base for the Knights on a leadoff walk from reliever Eddie Rodriguez, who had just entered the game, and scored Charlotte's final run when center fielder Brian Anderson grounded out to the short stop.

The Knights will play the final game of the series with the Lynx, who lead 2-1, Thursday at Knights Stadium as Jon Adkins will face Tony Fiore for the Lynx.
