Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks earned a key victory over the Ottawa Rebel on February 28th, but the big winner that night was the Mary Cariola Children's Center of Rochester. The proceeds from the special Mardi Gras jerseys raised $9,467 for the local charity.

Bids ranged in price from $1,000 to $100 last Friday night. The jersey that went for the highest bid should be no surprise to long-time Rochester Knighthawk fans. The jersey of original K-Hawk Regy Thorpe was sold for $1,000. Thorpe was playing in his 100th professional game on Friday against Ottawa. Defenseman Marshall Abrams ($775) and goaltender Pat O'Toole ($751) were auctioned for the second and third highest amounts, respectively.

The 25 holiday jerseys were available through a silent auction bid process. The special jerseys were part of "Mardi Gras Night" at The Blue Cross Arena. The Knighthawks roared to a 13-7 win over the Rebel, wearing the purple jerseys.

Rochester (7-3) will return to the road black jerseys this week, as they battle the Central Division leading Buffalo Bandits on Friday, March 7th at the HSBC Arena.
