Knighthawks Shawn Evans Wins Two Weekly Awards

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks forward Shawn Evans was named the Offensive and Overall Player of the Week by the National Lacrosse League today. Evans registered a career-high 14 points (7+7) last Saturday in Rochester's 18-10 win over the Toronto Rock. He also collected 11 loose balls and earned his 200th career point on February 28th.

The Peterborough, Ontario, native finished the game one point shy of tying John Grant's single-game team record of 15 points. The Knighthawks forward scored all seven of his goals in the first half and also chipped in four assists. The fourth-year pro added three assists in the second half to help Rochester win its third straight home game. Evans is currently second on the team with 38 points (16+22) in eight games. With his 14 points last week, he now has 22 in the last two games (10+12).

The Knighthawks will have the weekend off as the National Lacrosse League enjoys All-Star Weekend in Denver, Colorado. Gary Gait and Shawn Williams will represent the Knighthawks at the two-day event. The Skills Competition is scheduled for Friday, March 6th at 10:00 p.m. EST. The All-Star Game will take place on Saturday, March 7th at 9:00 p.m. EST.

This past weekend, Rochester defeated the Toronto Rock 18-10 Saturday night at The Blue Cross Arena to improve to 3-5. Rochester will host the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, March 14th at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com.
