
Swarm's Kevin Buchanan Named NLL Rookie of the Week

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League (NLL) announced today that Minnesota Swarm forward Kevin Buchanan has been named the NLL Rookie of the Week.
Buchanan, 22 (5/9/86), collected 11 points (7-4=11) and 13 loose balls helping the Swarm win back-to-back road games last weekend. He recorded five goals and an assist, including the game-winning goal in a 13-10 win at Toronto (2/27) and added five points (2-3=5) in a 16-15 win at Buffalo (2/28) as the Swarm snapped a five-game losing streak and improved its record to 4-5. Buchanan has 15 points (6-9=15) and 21 loose balls in four games this season. Minnesota selected the Ohio State University graduate in the first round (11th overall) of the 2008 NLL Entry Draft.
The Weekly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league's 12 teams.
The 2009 NLL All-Star Game will be played Saturday at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado at 8:00 p.m. Central. Defensemen Ryan Cousins and Nick Inch will represent Minnesota at the contest. Cousins, who will be making his fifth straight All-Star Game appearance with the Swarm, has three points (1-2=3) and 42 loose balls this season while Inch, who will be making his All-Star Game debut, has three assists and 26 loose balls.
Minnesota's next home game is Saturday, March 28th vs. the Calgary Roughnecks.
