November 14, 2011 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Rochester Knighthawks News Release
(Rochester, November 14)... Rochester Knighthawks Owner and General Manager Curt Styres announced today that the team has re-signed transition man Chris Driscoll and signed former Knighthawks goalie Jake Henhawk. Both one-year deals are pending league approval.
"I am pleased to have re-signed with the Knighthawks. It's a great organization," said Driscoll. "I look forward to the opportunity to once again be a leader and mentor to the younger players. It's an honor."
Driscoll enters his 20th season in the NLL and eighth with the Knighthawks in 2012. In 2011, he recorded 11 points to move within two of hitting the 200-point mark as a Knighthawk. In his professional career, he has notched 240 goals, 378 assists and 1,035 loose balls. He is second in NLL history with 234 games played. He has won three championships along the way: 1997, 2003 and 2005. He began his career with the Detroit Turbos in 1993 before heading to Rochester, where he played in 42 games in four seasons. His career has also included stops with the Buffalo Bandits, New York Saints and Toronto Rock. Driscoll was given the National Lacrosse League Sportsmanship Award in 2003, and won an NLL championship with the Rock in 2005.
Henhawk returns to Rochester where he last played in 2010. This summer, he guided the St. Catharines Saints to a bronze medal in the Presidents' Cup and earned the Travis Solomon Outstanding Goaltender Award. The Six Nations product also made his second appearance for Team USA at the 2011 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. During his junior career, Henhawk played four seasons for the Six Nations Arrows (1998-2001).
"I am very happy to be back with the Knighthawks," said Henhawk. "I am ready to give my 110 percent to help us win. I can't wait for camp and season to start."
The Knighthawks will open their 2012 Training Camp at Total Sports Experience in Gates on Saturday, November 19th with a 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. session. Rochester will host a home preseason game against the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday, December 17th at 7:00 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena.
