Rochester Knighthawks News Release
The Rochester Knighthawks hit the road for two divisional games in two nights this weekend. On Saturday, Rochester travels to Toronto to take on the Rock at the Air Canada Centre at 7:00 p.m. The following day, the Knighthawks are in Philadelphia to face the Wings at 4:00 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center.
Saturday's game will be televised live in Canada on TSN and streamed live on ESPN3. Sunday's contest will be streamed live on The Lacrosse Network's YouTube Channel. Both games will be broadcast on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950ESPN.com.
The last time the Knighthawks and Rock met, Rochester earned a 17-9 decision at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday, February 15th. The Knighthawks offense lit up the ACC with 10-point performances from both Dan Dawson (10 assists) and Cody Jamieson (5+5). Stephen Keogh added seven points with four goals and three assists, while Cory Vitarelli was not far behind with two goals and three assists. Rochester native Joe Walters also recorded his first career NLL hat trick.
Matt Vinc was a force to be reckoned with in Toronto, stopping 45 of 54 shots. The Knighthawks defense was also a key piece to the victory, with Mac Allen and Dylan Evans combining to win 67 percent of the faceoffs.
Last Saturday, Rochester improved its record to 7-3 after defeating the Philadelphia Wings 13-8. The Knighthawks remained perfect at home this season, improving to 5-0. Jamieson led the way in scoring for Rochester, recording four goals and one assist. Dawson (1+5) and Keogh (2+4) also had stellar nights on offense, both notching six points. Joe Walters was another producer for the Knighthawks, chipping in one goal and four assists. Rochester saw goals from seven different players on Saturday against the Wings. Vinc had another astounding performance in goal, making 34 saves.
The Rochester defense has been formidable in front of its All-Star goalie, allowing only 85 goals in 10 games. The Knighthawks rank second in the NLL in goals-against (8.50). Rochester is on pace to allow just 153 goals, which would set a single-season team record. Individually, Scott Campbell is tied for third in the NLL with 16 forced turnovers, while Brad Self is second in points among league defensemen with 16. Evans also sits among the top faceoff men in the league and has already won a career-high 105 faceoffs. Additionally, the Knighthawks are one of only several teams who have four players with over 50 loose balls, which includes Sid Smith (51), Scott Self (55), Evans (62) and Brad Self (73).
Next Home Game: Rochester will return home on Saturday, March 29th to take on the Edmonton Rush. The Knighthawks will hold their Annual Kids Day that day at The Blue Cross Arena. The event, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., will feature inflatables, laser tag, a magician, face painters and air brush tattoos. Fans must have a ticket to enter. Admission to the pregame event and the game are free for kids 12 and under. Game time is 7:30 p.m. and tickets are currently available by calling (585) 454-4295.
