
Knighthawks Go for First Home Win this Weekend

(Rochester, January 25)... For the second straight time, the Rochester Knighthawks return home after an exciting 11-10 overtime victory. On Saturday, Shawn Evans capped a remarkable comeback with a goal 48 seconds into overtime sending the Knighthawks past the Boston Blazers.
Rochester and Boston will hit the turf again on Saturday, January 29th at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The first 5,000 fans will receive a Knighthawks T-shirt. The game will be broadcast live on The Zone 94.1 FM and www.thezone941.com.
In the first meeting, Rochester netted four of the game's last five goals, including one with six seconds left to force the extra frame. Shawn Williams led Rochester with seven points (2+5) was huge down the stretch scoring two of the goals and assisting on the game's last three goals. Cody Jamieson recorded his second straight hat trick and Evans notched three goals and two assists. His third point of the game was the 300th of his career. Rookies Tyler Burton and Dylan Evans also recorded their first career assists. Matt Vinc made 39 saves as Rochester moved into a second-place tie in the East with a 2-1 record.
Boston (2-2) lost in overtime for the second time in two nights. Casey Powell had a monster performance with four goals and three assists. The other two members of the Big Three also contributed as Dan Dawson (0+6) and Josh Sanderson (4+2) each notched six-point efforts. Anthony Cosmo stopped 27 shots in the loss. Powell leads the NLL with 16 goals and is tied with Dawson with a league-best 27 points. Dawson leads the league with 24 assists.
The Blazers had a busy schedule last week with a road game against the Toronto Rock on January 21st at the Air Canada Centre. Boston dropped a 15-14 decision to the Rock before losing another OT game the next night at home. The Blazers have another back-to-back weekend as they host Philadelphia Friday before coming to Rochester Saturday.
Notes: Saturday night specials: On Saturday, January 29th, fans can purchase the "Orange" Pack, which includes two 200-premium tickets for $44 to watch former Syracuse greats Gary Gait and Cody Jamieson take on another Orange legend Casey Powell. Prior to the game, fans can get autographs from former SU stars Marshall Abrams and Sol Bliss.
The Rochester Knighthawks/Amerks Charitable Foundation, Inc. will hold a Teddy Bear Auction on Saturday during the game. Fans can bid on bears made by former Syracuse lacrosse stars Scott Ditzell and Sid Smith at Build-A-Bear Workshopé. The winners will be announced during the fourth quarter. All the proceeds will go to CURE Childhood Cancer Association.
Extra Lacrosse: For the first time in team history, Rochester won back-to-back road games in overtime. The 2011 Knighthawks are now one win away from tying the 2005 squad with three OT wins. The 1998 club owns the team record with four overtime games.
