Klein, Lillibridge Nominated for MiLBY Awards

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Round Rock Express relief pitcher Phil Klein and infielder Brent Lillibridge were nominated for Minor League Baseball's MiLBY Awards in the "Top Relief Pitcher" and "Photo of the Year" categories respectively. The Texas Rangers were also nominated for the "Best Farm System."

The MiLBY Awards are MiLB.com's annual off-season awards for the best in Minor League Baseball across 13 different categories. Fans can vote for their favorites in each category up to 25 times starting Thursday, October 9 through Thursday, October 23.

Klein, 25, started the season in Double-A Frisco where he had a team-leading 10 saves in 24 appearances. He allowed just three runs (all earned) in 33.1 innings with the RoughRiders. He was promoted to the Express on June 25 and allowed just seven hits in 18.1 innings of work (9 appearances). He compiled a 35-inning scoreless streak before receiving a promotion to the Rangers on August 1. Between his stints at Double-A and Triple-A, the Columbus, Ohio native compiled a 3-0 record with a 0.52 ERA, 70 strikeouts and a 0.81 WHIP.

Lillibridge, 31, laid out across the infield to make a diving catch on April 5 against the Oklahoma City RedHawks. MiLB.com's Jim Redman captured the play with his camera, making for one of the top 10 photos of the 2014 season.

The Rangers' eight minor league affiliates compiled a 470-362 record with the highest winning percentage (.565) of all major league organizations for the 2014 season. Five Rangers affiliates made the postseason (AZL Rangers, DSL Rangers, Frisco, Myrtle Beach and Spokane) with DSL Rangers winning the Dominican Summer League and the Pelicans making it to the Carolina League championship series.
