
KiXX top Rockford, 20-6, at MetroCentre

ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Philadelphia KiXX handed the Rockford Rampage their first loss of the 2009-2010 Major Indoor Soccer League season, a 20-6 victory Friday night at the MetroCentre.
The Rampage fall to 2-1 on the season while the KiXX improve to 1-2. Next up for the Rampage is a 5:05 p.m. match on Sunday, Dec. 20, against La RaZa de Monterrey at the MetroCentre.
Leo Gibson netted a first-half hat trick and four goals in all as the KiXX jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead and never looked back. For the Rampage, Gary Brooks, Bato Radoncic and Semir Mesanovic each had second-half goals.
The KiXX got off to a quick start when Jeremy Ortiz netted a goal at close range on a ball from Adauto Neto that trickled past the Rampage's Fabinho and goalkeeper Danny Waltman for a 2-0 lead at the 8:39 mark of the first. Philadelphia then took a 4-0 lead with 34.2 seconds left in the quarter with Gibson's first goal, with Ryan Heins assisting.
In the second quarter, Joe Di Buono netted a three-pointer, intercepting Waltman's outlet pass to take a 7-0 lead at the 1:39 mark. With 5:21 left in the second, Gibson earned his second goal at close range as Neto assisted for a 9-0 advantage on the power-play opportunity. With 3:43 left in the quarter, Philadelphia's Ricardinho notched a three-point goal on a loose ball for a 12-0 lead. And with 23.1 seconds left in the half, Gibson earned a hat trick with a two-pointer and 14-0 lead.
The Rampage finally got on the scoreboard with 12:30 left in the third quarter. Rockford's Brooks spun with the ball and found a gap in Philadelphia's defense as he popped a shot past former Rampage goalkeeper Sanaldo to cut the KiXX's lead to 14-2. Then at the 8:07 mark, Radoncic has an unassisted goal of his own to cut Philadelphia's lead to 14-4.
But the third quarter was the only period where the KiXX stayed quiet. With 9:40 left in the fourth quarter, Joe Taylor had a two-point goal for a 16-4 advantage. With 7:51 remaining in the fourth, Gibson continued his scoring barrage for an 18-4 KiXX lead.
In the closing minutes the KiXX and Rampage traded goals in a matter of 19 seconds. Philadelphia's Neto had a goal with Sanaldo assisting with 2:32 left. Then with 2:13 remaining, the Rampage's Mesanovic made it 20-6 on Eric Lukin's assist.
