Pitchers Duel - Kinston put two solid ballgames together in Saturday's doubleheader against Potomac but fell victim to a red hot Nationals squad and fell in both contests. Abner Abreu, Chase Burnette and Jeremie Tice all homered. Abreu and Tice went back-to-back in the first game. Kinston has lost four straight after the three game sweep at Potomac.

Tice Touching All The Bases - Jeremie Tice returns home having put together the best road trip of any K-Tribe player. Tice batted .428 on the six game swing (6/14) with two doubles and a home run. Saturday's blast at Potomac snapped a homerless streak dating to the 8th of June.

One Run Magic - Saturday's 3-2 loss was an anomaly for Kinston. The K-tribe is a league best 31-10 when scoring first. Kinston also has the Carolina League's top mark in one run games, 22-11.

Home is Where The Homers Are - Despite a recent power surge that came mostly on the road, Kinston has hit 29 home runs at Grainger stadium this season. Adam Abraham has 11 of his 13 at home and Casey Frawley has six home blasts with 26 rbi. Since July 4th, Kinston has 13 home runs. Five have come off the bat of Abner Abreu during that span. Kinston has 54 home runs this season, tied for fifth in the league. Winston Salem leads the way with 87.

Gold Glove Caliber K-Tribe - Kinston is statistically the best team in the Carolina League. The K-Tribe's fielding percentage of .977 just edges Salem's mark of .976. As a team, Kinston has committed a league best 75 errors, six better than Salem. Among defensive starters, Roberto Perez has totaled a catchers best 530 putouts. Potomac's percentage of .966 is far and away the worst. Potomac has also totaled 110 errors, four more than the next closest team, Winston-Salem.

Carolina Class - Abner Abreu is the Carolina League Player of the Week for 7/04 - 7/10. Abreu went nine for 19 over the span with four home runs, two doubles, two triples, four rbi's, seven runs and two stolen bases through six games. In July Abreu is hitting .346 with four home runs. . League's Best - Kinston finished June with the league's best record at 18-9. The K-Tribe launched 18 HR (4th) and had the best era mark at 2.54. June's top mark came on the heels of May's 18-10 record, which was second best in the league, one game back of Frederick's 19-11.
