Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA – The Los Angeles Kings, the NHL affiliate of the Reading Royals, on Thursday agreed to terms on a one-year entry-level contract with goaltender Adam Hauser. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.

Hauser, 24, played in 43 regular season games this past season for the Royals AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs and recorded a 20-15-7 record, a .926 save-percentage and set single season team records with seven shutouts and a 1.94 goals-against-average. In the first 67 seasons of the AHL, only five goalies finished with a goals-against-average under 2.00. This past season, eight AHL netminders, including Hauser, accomplished that feat.

In the AHL's Calder Cup playoffs, he played in four games and posted a 2-2 record, two shutouts, a 1.89 goals-against-average and a .913 save-percentage. Hauser began the 2003-04 season by playing in four games with the Royals, where he posted a 3-0-1 record, one shutout, a 1.71 goals-against-average and a .930 save-percentage before being called up.

A native of Bovey, Minnesota, the 6-foot-2, 194-pound Hauser was originally selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the third round (81st overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. A former four-year standout at the University of Minnesota, where at the time of his graduation he held the school records for career wins, saves, shutouts and games played, Hauser was a member of the 2002 NCAA National Champion University of Minnesota Golden Gophers squad.

In addition, Hauser was named to the 2002 NCAA Frozen Four All-Tournament Team, and upon turning pro in 2002, he was named to the 2002-03 ECHL All-Rookie Team, while playing for the Jackson Bandits under current Royals bench boss Derek Clancey.

The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition presented by Coors Light on January 25 and 26.
