
'Kings Shutout the Havoc

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings got back into the win column as they shutout the Huntsville Havoc 2-0 at the Lander's Center Saturday night. The shutuout was Matthew Krahn's second of the season.
Defense dominated the first 39 minutes of play as both Matthew Krahn and Dan McWhinney made key saves on a number of scoring opportunities. The 'Kings and the Havoc shared two different power play opportunities in the first and second period, but both failed to capitalize.
Todd Hosmer broke the scoreless tie as he deflected a pass from Matt Whitehead past McWhinney to put the 'Kings up by one. The goal at the 19:00 mark of the second period sent hundreds of teddy bears flying onto the ice in the RiverKings Annual Teddy Bear Toss.
In the third, the RiverKings sealed the deal at the 9:15 mark on the power play. Darrell Stoddard's ninth goal of the season came when he beat McWhinney glove side from a pass from Kyle Lundale to put the "ËKings up by two as the home-team held on for their second win against Huntsville this season.
Matt Kran (5-4-1) received his second shutout of the season saving all 26 shots on net. Dan McWhinney (3-8-1) steared aside 33 of 35 shots against in the loss for Huntsville.
The RiverKings travel to Huntsville on Thursday night to take on the Havoc for the first time on Breland Home's Ice.
