Surge earn win in OT

Mississippi Surge News Release


Tommy Lange's goal with just 1:04 left in overtime gave the Mississippi Surge a 2-1 win Saturday over the Augusta RiverHawks Saturday night in Augusta. The win snapped a two game losing streak for the Surge.

The win came in the final game of a six game road trip for the Surge. Mississippi went 4-2-0 on its longest road trip of the season.

Goaltenders Kiefer Smiley of the Surge and Robby Moss of Augusta matched each other save for save into the third period. Surge defenseman James Isaacs scored the game's first goal at 5:43 of the third period. Dennis sicord scored his second goal in as many nights against the Surge at 12:43 of the third period, which tied the game, and eventually forced the overtime.

Lange's goal came on the Surge's fifth shot of overtime, and Isaacs assisted on the game winner. He had also been involved in a fight in the second period.

The Surge returns home to face the Fayetteville FireAntz on December 14th.
