Manchester Monarchs News Release
LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, are set to officially open their 2008 NHL Training Camp with their first on-ice session scheduled for Friday, September 19, at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. All on-ice practices and on-ice scrimmages are open to the fans and to the media, and 61 players, including 30 players that have skated in Manchester, are scheduled to participate in this year's Training Camp.
The players will be divided into four teams at the start of Camp - Team Nicholls, Team Pulford, Team Quinn and Team Wells, which are named after four prominent former Kings players and/or coaches (Bernie Nicholls, Bob Pulford, Pat Quinn and Jay Wells). The teams will compete for the third annual Rogie Cup, which is named for Kings Hall of Fame goaltender and Royal Ambassador Rogie Vachon. The team with the most points after the games will be awarded the Rogie Cup.
The Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo is located at 555 North Nash Street. Scrimmages and practices will be held on both the NHL and Olympic rinks.
