The Kalamazoo Kings split the series 1-1 with the Kenosha Mammoths in a fifteen inning 6-5 win. The fifteen-inning marathon was the longest game in Kings history.
The Kings gave up four runs in the top of the ninth, before battling back in the bottom of the ninth to tie it up 5-5. Steve Hindman hit a one out, game winning single in the bottom of the fifteenth to score Damon Lewis. Walt Simmons was the highlight of the night for the Kings going four for seven with two homeruns and three RBI's. David McWatters was the starting pitcher for the Kings going nine solid innings before Greg Wiltshire and Dan D'Amato came in for relief. D'Amato, pitching in his first career game for the Kings, gave up four hits and no runs while collecting the win.
The Kings hit the road for a six game road trip against the Rockford Riverhawks, Cook County Cheetahs and the Kenosha Mammoths of the West Division. The Kings will return to action at Homer Stryker Field on Tuesday, June 24 against the Chillicothe Paints.
