'Kings Battle, But Fall in Louisiana

Lafayette, LA - The Mississippi Riverkings fell Friday night in Louisiana 3-2 to the IceGators.

The IceGators got the scoring started midway through the first period as August Aiken came in alone along the left-hand side and beat Scott Darling over the right shoulder to give Louisiana the 1-0 lead.

The RiverKings responded with one minute left to go in the period as Jeff Topilko's rebound ended up on Paul D'Agostino's stick in the slot and he buried it home over Dan Earls to tie the game at one.

Cameron Sault tallied his first goal of the season, as he banged home a rebound at the 11:20 mark of the second period to give the RiverKings their first lead of the game.

But the IceGators wouldn't go away. Shawn McNeil's shot slipped past Darling giving him his 14th goal of the season with assists going to Clark Byczynski and Josh Boyd at the 18:06 mark of the second period.

The IceGators retook the lead as Jordan Oye came in alone and slid the puck through Darling to give the 'Gators the 3-2 lead for the remainder of the game.

Scott Darling stopped 26 of 29 shots as he fell to 4-9-1 on the season. Dan Earles improved 6-1-0 as he stopped 29 of 31 shots against.

The RiverKings return home to the DCC on Saturday for the New Year's Eve game against the Louisiana IceGators. Puck drops at 6:05 at the Desoto Civic Center. Great seats are still available.
