SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference has had at least one player on many of the Prospect League's best teams since the league began in its current form in 2009. This coming season, the Kings will be no exception with the addition of Ball State University infielder Sean Kennedy.

Kennedy, from Springboro, Ohio, was a star baseball player at Springboro High School before deciding to attend Ball State to continue his education and his baseball career. As a senior for Springboro, Kennedy hit .414 with three home runs and slugged .976. His prowess at the plate has carried into his collegiate game as well.

Last year, as a freshman at Ball State, Kennedy hit .315 while starting in 54 games. "An infielder who can handle the bat is a huge asset for our

team," said Kings manager Chris Perkovich. "He is a versatile infielder that can handle the bat and you really can't beat that in this league. I fully expect Sean to be a huge contributor for the Kings this upcoming summer."

Another part of the 6-foot-2, 185 pound Kennedy's game is getting on base, something that Perkovich highly values. "Last year, he had an OBP of .406, due, in no small part, to his 25 walks," said Perkovich. "Getting on base will be huge for the Kings, we have a lot of guys with power that can drive the ball to the gaps once guys are on."

Kennedy will join his Kings teammates in late May, when the season starts at home against Richmond on the 27th.
