Modesto, CA- On Thursday, August 8th , Nuts fans will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to catch a Cy Young award winner on the mound at John Thurman Field. Six-time all-star Felix Hernandez will be making a rehab start with the Modesto Nuts on his way back to Seattle. The Mariners' righty is working his way back from a shoulder injury that has kept him sidelined since May 11th . This will be his third rehab appearance this season.
"We are thrilled to host a living legend at John Thurman Field" said Modesto Nuts General Manager, Zach Brockman. "Felix has been one of the best pitchers in baseball for the majority of his career, Nuts fans are in for a real treat on Thursday night." continued Brockman.
In 15 major league seasons with Seattle, Hernandez put together a career 3.38 ERA in 411 starts.
Along the way, he made six All-Star appearances, earned two American League ERA titles, won the 2010 American League Cy Young Award and threw the 23rd perfect game in major league history on August 15, 2012.
Thursday Night's game begins at 7:05 PM with gates opening at 6 PM. It's also Country Night at the ballpark presented by the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau along with Thirsty Thursday beer specials and post-game fireworks. Tickets for Thursday, August 8th are expected to go fast.
