Kim Brown Set for Twitter Takeover
January 27, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Syracuse Crunch News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Friday, when the Syracuse Crunch host the Rochester Americans, the keys to the official Crunch Twitter account (@SyracuseCrunch) will be handed over to Kim Brown (@kimincuse), one of Central New York's most engaging social media personalities. Brown will tweet about the experience from a fan perspective, and is looking forward to having conversations with the account's loyal followers.
"I'm thrilled to be able to take over an account with such a loyal following and to share my experience," Brown said. "I probably shouldn't admit this, but I thought hockey had half-time. I've learned that's not the case. Needless to say, we'll have a lot of fun Friday night. I'm grateful to the Crunch for this opportunity."
Brown, set for her first Crunch Twitter Takeover, is the assistant director for alumni programs at Syracuse University Career Services. In addition to her personal Twitter account which has nearly 7,000 followers, Brown co-created and manages @WorkingOrange, a Twitter handle that connects SU alumni to students through virtual job shadowing.
A passionate promoter of Syracuse and Central New York, Brown is vice president of the CNY Orange alumni club, secretary of the ARISE Foundation Board and a member of the marketing and communications cabinet for the United Way of Central New York.
Brown, who graduated from Syracuse University summa cum laude in 2006, has appeared on NewsChannel 9 in various roles, including reporter and anchor, since 2006 and began teaching broadcast and digital journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 2012. She is also pursuing her Executive Master of Public Administration at the Maxwell School of Public Citizenship.
The last Crunch Twitter Takeover was Jan. 10 with Kevin Morrow, Syracuse University's executive director of public affairs strategic communications.
The division-leading Crunch return from the All-Star break with a home game Friday vs. Rochester at 7 p.m.
Single game and season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased either in person at the Crunch Box Office located at the War Memorial on 800 South State Street in Syracuse, or by calling the office at (315) 473-4444.
