
Kilome, Fightins beat Yard Goats

(Hartford, CT) - The Reading Fightin Phils (44-49) continue to play well on the road as they defeated the Hartford Yard Goats (45-47) 6-3 on Monday night at Dunkin Donuts Park. Reading is now 25-20 on the road this season.
Deivi Grullon hit his 13th home run of the season off Yard Goats starting pitcher Sean Nolin in the top of the second inning to give Reading a 1-0 lead. Hartford tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning against Fightins starting pitcher Franklyn Kilome (4-5). Brian Mundell led off the inning with a triple then scored on a RBI single by Brandon Bednar.
Sam Hilliard hit a go-ahead RBI double off Kilome in the bottom of the third inning to give Hartford a 2-1 lead. Jan Hernandez gave Reading the lead right back in the top of the fourth inning as he hit a two-run home run off Yard Goats relief pitcher Heath Holder (0-1).
Damek Tomscha hit a RBI single with two outs off Holder to score Kilome who doubled in the prior at-bat and give the Fightins a 4-2 lead. Heiker Meneses and Kilome hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the top of the sixth inning against Parker French to give Reading a 6-2 lead.
Kilome left the game after 6 2/3 innings and allowed two runs off six hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Seth McGarry earned his fourth save by pitching 2 1/3 innings and allowed one run off two hits with four strikeouts. Former Fightin Phil Brandon Bednar hit a RBI single off McGarry in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Hartford their third run of the game.
